About Bangalore

Welcome to Bangalore!

Legend goes that King Veeraballa of Vijayanagara once lost his way in forest. Hungry and tired , he came upon a lone hut in the forest where he asked for food, and was given baked beans. The King found this humble meal's taste better than the richest fare.To commemorate this incident, he called the place "Benda Kalu Ooru" (place of baked beans), now called Bengaluru. Capital of the Southern state of Karnataka, Bangalore today is Asia's fastest growing cosmopolitan city.

Bangalore is now the nerve centre of industrial activity in the state with the presence of several Public Sector Undertakings. The Electronic City in Bommasandra and the Software Technology Park- the IT Park, which has come up on the outskirts of the city, has earned the reputation of being the "Silicon" Valley of India. Many multinational and Indian companies are represented here. Bangalore has many on-going and proposed projects in the industrial and IT sectors. The city has slowly found a place in the country's history and off recently a place on the world map. Today Bangalore is India's fifth largest and the fastest growing city in Asia and ranked among the 10 fastest growing cities in the world, In May 2012, Lonely Planet ranked Bangalore 3rd among the world's top 10 cities to visit.

It is very well connected by air, rail and road. Blessed with a salubrious climate, November has pleasant sunny days and chilly nights. Light warm clothes may be required during nights.

The must-see places we suggest in Bangalore are the Bangalore Palace, Vidhana Soudha, Karnataka High Court, the ISKCON Temple, Dodda Basavana Gudi (the Bull Temple), the Lalbagh Botanical Garden and Cubbon Park. For shopping, there is Mantri Mall, the biggest in South Asia and Orion mall which is just 2.5 kms from the venue.Tourist places around Bangalore are Mysore, Bannerghatta National Park, Nandi Hills and Ranganthittu Bird Sanctuary all being within 160 km of Bangalore.

Bangalore offers something for everyone. After the conference hours, you can enjoy the lively arts and music scene, go disco-hopping or shop till your feet give away, relax in the swankiest restaurants or relish the scrummiest cuisines-both traditional and international. And if the maddening traffic has always been your concern, take heart: you might be fortunate enough Bengaluru's new high-speed Metro network now ensures that your favourite watering hole is easier to reach than ever. There's only one thing you could say to that: 'Chill maadi!’
