Thank you for making 13th National Conference of AIDS Society of India - ASICON yet another milestone event despite the ongoing pandemic. With your support, ASI has led from the front in innovating and adapting to emerging challenges and continuing to do justice to its mission.
From hybrid CME in January 2021 to entire successful organising the 13th ASICON in physical mode from 3-5 April 2022 in Hyderabad, India, ASI has indeed evolved to respond to its best of competencies in current times. The 13th ASICON created history with over 1200 registering for the conference with 370 delegates attending ASICON in person, and ~ 830 registering virtually.
My sincere thanks to all delegates for strong academic exchanges, deliberations, dialogues, debates and discussions that enriched each of the 18 scientific sessions of 13th ASICON held on the theme of "Confronting pandemics with proficiency, precision and persistence."
Spirit of mutual learning with scientific acumen and dignity was upheld traditionally by each one of us - to which I am indeed indebted. Culture of learning and growing together is in the DNA of ASI so that we all are stronger in responding to the challenge of ending AIDS by 2030.
On behalf of ASI, I will like to put our sincere gratitude on record to all the international and national faculty for bringing the latest of HIV science and evidence centre-stage in ASICON sessions.
We also acknowledge long-standing academic partners of repute whose unflinching support has always been invaluable for ASI. These include: CAPRISA-South Africa; Central TB Division (CTD), Government of India; International AIDS Society (IAS); National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) of Government of India; OMNICURIS; SHARE India, UNAIDS; International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union), and the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Without vital support of ASICON's logistic partners organizing this yet another historic conference would not have been possible. Thanks to Emcure, Viatris, Laurus Labs, Abbott, Cepheid, Hetero Healthcare, Cipla, Sysmex and BD for the unrestricted education and research grant.
I am reminded of the golden adage, "Responsibilities gravitate to the person who can shoulder them". Undoubtedly the team which made 13 th ASICON a grand success was the organizing committee that dedicatedly did justice to their roles and responsibilities for several months, weeks and days and nights in lead up to the conference. Thanks to each of the 13th ASICON Organising Committee members including Advisory Board members, ASICON co-chairs, Scientific Committee Co-Chairs, Organizing Secretaries, Joint Organizing Secretaries, ASI Governing Council members, among others.
My sincere gratitude and token of appreciation for ITC Kakatiya Hotel management and staff; Grover Audio-visuals, Meetings and More; Celebration events, team of Unison Medicare and Research Centre; and all others who played a key role in making ASICON yet another iconic success.
Let us be reminded of John F Kennedy's words, "Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other." Hoping learning and knowledge exchange will continue with each one of you as we inch towards ending AIDS.
