HIV Updates -Takeaways from IAS 2021

Last two years, we have gone through worst of the times, the mankind had ever seen in last century. When lives and livelihood were highly impacted no one can dream of having socialisation, physical large gatherings including medical conferences. Barring a CME on 17th January 2021, ASI had to manage all its educational activities virtually. Now the time has come to have conferences once again, albeit in a guarded manner.

The 13th National Conference of AIDs Society of India - ASICON will be held at a wonderful venue ITC Kakatiya in Hyderabad from 3-5 April 2022 in a Hybrid mode. Whereas we expect 200-250 delegates, subject to local guidelines, in physical mode and rest will be virtual. Besides HIV, Hepatitis B &C, Tuberculosis, this time the scientific agenda of the conference will encompass Covid-19 and other emerging infectious diseases as well.

National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) and Central TB Division (CTD) will continue to be our partners among others.

We are conscious of the aspirations of our post-graduate students and young scientists, as majority of them were busy handling the pandemic head-on, without a sigh of relief and any medical conferences to showcase their achievements through presentations. However, we will have limitations in offering speaking slots and scholarships due to logistic issues.

As a rule, the entry to the conference will be restricted to only those delegates who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

We hope to see you physically in Hyderabad or virtually for ASICON.

Dr Ishwar Gilada
President, AIDS Society of India

About Hyderabad

Hyderabad , 'City of Nizams' is a beautiful city, that was once ruled by the Nizams, and the remnants of that culture is still very evident in many parts of the city. You would be experiencing a variety of cultures and cuisines, which add a distinctive Persian and Iranian flavour to the palate. While here, be sure to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Charminar, Golconda fort and Salar Jung museum, all the while indulging in the Irani chai and Hyderabadi biriyani, which are so intimately associated with the city.We also hope that you would not miss buying some of the beautiful Hyderabadi pearls, at the Charminar and Chudi bazaar, while you spend your time in the city!
