ASI is a professional non-profit membership organization of medical doctors and researchers in
HIV/AIDS aiming to promote and disseminate clinically oriented medical teaching and coordinated
medical management of HIV disease.
It is registered under the Society's Registration Act 1860 and the Bombay Public Trust Act 1950 in
2000 AD with its registered office situated at Mumbai.
ASI collaborates with internationally recognized scientists in HIV/AIDS and focuses on national
capacity building. It organizes CMEs in different parts of India and National Conference of ASI
annually and these are very well attended. ASI has been accredited by the Maharashtra Medical
Council for conducting CMEs, Workshops, Training Programs and Conferences with CME credit hours
to delegates and faculty. It plays advocacy and advisory roles at the national, regional and local
levels and also collaborates with NACO and National TB Control Programme. It supports / co-
sponsors regional, national and inter-national meetings organised by other professional
organisations and associations.
ASI manages a discussion forum on its website www.asi-asicon.org and publishes a newsletter
'Journal of AIDS Society of India' since early this year.
